Mark Twain Olympic Bash!

February 24th, 2024

Huckleberry Bash is an adult-only event attended by close to 400 parents, staff members and friends. It is the largest fundraiser of the year and one that significantly helps supplement the school’s operating budget. The theme this year is “Twain Olympics” and all attendees are encouraged to dress in costume (think Olympic athletes and sports), celebrate and have a good time. The Huckleberry Bash Mission

Our annual auction is the largest PTO fundraising event; all funds raised go towards our mission to support the excellent education our children receive at Mark Twain Elementary, through our annual “Gifts to School.”

The Gifts to School provide Ms. Rawson with the additional funding needed to provide the robust education our children receive. The funds she receives support the IB Programme by covering the required annual programme fees, as well as additional staff for the teachers to have an extra planning period to be able to incorporate the IB transdisciplinary themes into the curriculum. Our children are offered a number of ancillary programs (“specials”), including art, science, technology,  music and Spanish to complement their academic endeavors.

PTO funding provided new equipment (3D printers, robot kits, and a laser cutter) to create a new additional classroom - the Mark Twain Makerspace. Along with providing support to the enrichment programs, the money raised at the auction is used towards various enhancements & security features in and around our school, including repairing the bike rack area and creating the new sensory garden in the back courtyard. These fundraising efforts are vital to our beloved school and we ask for your help to  fulfill the mission of bash by raising your paddle at the auction and participating in the Olympic event!

Wine is donated by parents over the next couple of months at a minimum value of $30. Raffle tickets are sold at $25 and each ticket is guaranteed a bottle of wine.

Auction Items

Silent and live auction items include anything from kid birthday party packages, summer camp certificates, gift baskets, trips, sporting tickets, dining experiences and more!

“Socials” are parties hosted by either parents or staff members, from Wigs & Wine adult party or a 1st grade back to school party. Socials are popular and sell out quickly!

The auction provides opportunities to bid on items that are not available at any other time in the school year. Some Twain Treasure favorites have been Grand Marshall of the Storybook Parade, “Principal for the Day,” reserved seating at school events, metal silhouettes along the school fence and of course the Happy Birthday wishes on the front marquee.

Live Auction & Big Board Items are only available for bidding in person at the event, only silent auction & socials may be bid on via mobile bidding.

Parent Support

Room parents will send out emails on how each classroom can help with donation items and/or volunteer to host a social. Beyond class donations, we are always looking for larger items for our live auction and big board items.  If you have connections to large items (vacation homes, experiences, special events) please reach out!
