Cello Teacher

Cello Teacher: Elizabeth Cabral

Elizabeth Cabral started playing cello with Houston’s own Cornelia Watkins from the age of 11 until graduating from High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Ms. Cabral spent a year as an AFS (American Field Service) student in Frankfurt, while continuing her cello studies. Ms. Cabral majored in German and minored in Music at Cornell College in Iowa. She has been teaching cello at Mark Twain since 2014. She also teaches at Parker Elementary. Ms. Cabral is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and enjoys continuing education with Suzuki teacher training courses. Her favorite cellists are Jacqueline du Pré, Julian Lloyd Webber, and Zuill Bailey. Ms. Cabral is an early music (medieval, Renaissance, and early baroque music) aficionado. She hopes to have a viola da gamba (bowed string instrument, similar to the cello, the viol, or viola da gamba, is played between the legs) someday. Locally, Ms. Cabral enjoys Mercury Orchestra and the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra.
